**Exciting Opportunity for Scrub and Sterile Processing Tech** **Job Description:** - Are you passionate about surgical care and making a difference in patients' lives? - Join our dynamic Surgical Team where you will be responsible for delivering exceptional care to surgical patients. - Contribute to the efficient operation of the Surgery Department by sharing your technical expertise with medical students, nurses, and fellow technicians. - Be a vital part of the surgical facility, serving as the first line of defense against infections and equipment issues. **Essential Job Duties:** **Surgical Tech Responsibilities:** - Prepare instrument sets and necessary equipment based on proposed surgeries and surgeon preferences. - Scrub, gown, and glove yourself and team members for surgical procedures. - Drape patients expertly and assist surgeons with draping methods. - Handle instruments proficiently and ensure their proper functioning. - Maintain sterile techniques and immediately address any breaches in protocol. - Conduct thorough counts of sponges and sharps with the Circulating Nurse. - Anticipate the surgeon's needs to minimize delays during surgery. - Assist in cleaning the OR before and after procedures, preparing for upcoming surgeries. - Act as the first assistant to the surgeon when required. - Preserve and clearly identify specimens received during surgery. - Keep the OR Supervisor informed of any changes in progress, instrumentation, and equipment. - Support the orientation, training, and education of new staff. - Restock supplies according to established inventory levels. - Report any equipment maintenance needs to the department supervisor. - Understand procedures for transporting and receiving preoperative patients. - Commit to ongoing education in surgical technology through various means. - Be adaptable by working different shifts, taking calls, and covering weekends as needed. - Attend departmental staff meetings to stay updated on policies and procedures. - Respect patient privacy and confidentiality. - Follow the chain of command by reporting important information to the department supervisor. **Sterile Processing Tech Responsibilities:** - Master all surgical equipment functions to ensure smooth surgical procedures. - Adhere rigorously to sterilization guidelines; ensure all medical equipment is decontaminated before use. - Maintain inventory levels in sterile storage areas. - Check equipment for defects and perform necessary cleaning and sterilization protocols. - Organize inventory and ensure the availability of essential tools for all procedures. - Manage the stocking and inventory of crash carts. - Distribute instruments throughout the hospital, including the surgery department. - Operate and monitor sterilization equipment like autoclaves and sonic washers. - Organize surgical instrument trays for optimal efficiency. **Qualification and Education Requirements:** - Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist training program or a minimum of one year of experience in OR scrub nursing (experience may be waived at the discretion of the OR Supervisor). - Current BLS certification. - Certification as a Central Supply Technician is a plus. **Knowledge & Skills:** - In-depth understanding of various surgical procedures to anticipate surgeons' needs. - Proficient in the correct handling of instruments and supplies. - Comprehensive knowledge of medical asepsis in the OR. - Proper techniques for handling tissue specimens, cultures, and smears. - Ability to work efficiently with numerous surgical instruments and manage supply inventories. **Shift Information:** - Monday - Friday; 7:00 am - 3:30 pm; hours may vary based on case load. **Why Catalytic Solutions (CatSol):** - At CatSol, we connect dedicated therapists with rewarding assignments across the country. - Enjoy competitive pay, seamless onboarding, and a supportive recruiter who’s with you every step of the way. - Join us — where your expertise makes a difference every day.
