We are seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. This role involves processing and sterilizing surgical and hospital instruments and equipment, as well as distributing patient care supplies and equipment to ensure a safe and effective environment for patient care.
Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician will be responsible for the decontamination, processing, and assembly of surgical instrument sets, while maintaining compliance with safety and cleanliness protocols.
Essential Responsibilities
- Decontaminate and process instruments, including compiling and counting instrument sets.
- Sterilize instruments, trays, and basins according to appropriate exposure and drying times.
- Prepare instruments for immediate use sterilization when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment in the processing area by regularly cleaning counters, sinks, and sterilization equipment.
- Assist in room turnover and terminal cleaning of operating room suites.
- Support the preparation of supplies and instruments for upcoming surgical cases.
- Perform daily diagnostic testing on sterilization equipment and evaluate instruments for function and safety.
- Record loaner information for tracking and maintain logs for biological indicators.
- Provide technical services and assistance in operating rooms and outpatient facilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School education or GED required; Associate’s/Technical degree preferred.
- Sterile Processing Technician certification is required.
- At least two years of recent experience in sterile processing is preferred.
- Current BLS certification is required.
