Job Description

The Sterile Instrument Technician is responsible for processing and preparing multi-specialty and general surgery instrumentation. The technician provides quality sterile trays, surgical instruments, packs, and medical supplies while cleaning patient equipment in a busy, fast-paced environment. This position serves as a vital resource for the Surgical Services Department and other clinical departments, ensuring proper sterilization and availability of surgical instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Process and prepare surgical instrumentation and equipment.
• Maintain comprehensive quality assurance standards related to sterilization and infection control.
• Provide initial cleaning and decontamination of instruments and trays.
• Ensure instruments meet stringent criteria for sterility and functionality prior to distribution.
• Monitor inventory levels of instruments and supplies needed for reprocessing.
• Assist outside vendors with instrument maintenance and management.

Required Experience / Certifications

• 2 years of Sterile Processing Technician experience required.
• CSPDT or CRCST certification required.
• Previous travel experience required.
